Bowling in Washington

Kalama, Washington
Sunday night we traveled to Kalama, Washington, also known as the home of the "Twilight" high school. We let the kids run and play together and enjoyed a delicious meal.
The next day we took a visit to a blossoming tulip farm.
Due to the weather, we took our packed lunch and headed to the church gym.
There we spent a couple hours playing basketball and running races.
I came away with more funny stories than I could tell in a single post, but lets just say we had an awesome Superman off the stage, carpet burn across the forehead of an intense crab racer, a large goose egg on the child that pulled a "timber" off of the top of the stairs and a girls "rule" running race to quiet the ego's of the boys!
We had dinner that night with the missionaries and FHE. Uncle CJ was in great form that night and kept us all entertained.
The kids took turns sleeping in the tree house, which turned out to be a hit despite the rain showers.

Albany Oregon
We all stayed at my sister Dawn's newly remodeled home. They have a huge bonus room we could lay out sleeping bags in. Most of the cousins were in hog heaven the whole time. 
We even got sunshine for an Easter egg hunt.
I made friends with my buddy Cedric. He was cute to climb up in my lap and bring me books to read. That was the highlight for me along with running in the Oregon trails!
The boys went with Uncle Brent that afternoon to swim at the local high school.
We spent a significant amount of time at the local park playing with the kids. We had absolutely perfect weather in "God's Country", or so the story goes.
I loved being with my children and was pleasantly surprised at how smoothly the trip went...

Highlights:
- Despite staying up until 2 A.M. doing laundry for the second half of trip and ironing every ones clothing for the next day, I still managed to have exactly 6 minutes to shower and load all the kids in time to get to church! ( even getting up at 6:15)
- Entertaining 9 children between two moms during Sacrament went well, until the train puzzle got brought out. We had a screaming monkey, a barrelling bull coming after the toys and a distraught 3 year old whose turn got passed over due to the 2 year old boys. I was looking for the nearest hole in the ground to sink into with no option in sight.
- My 6 year old daughter running from her Primary teacher as he introduced himself, then hanging onto the door frame of the Primary room desperately trying to run out.
On the flip side I got to see one of my dearest friends from school for the first time in many years, meet her children and catch up with several other distant friends that day.
Albany Carousal
This spring break, I decided to take a road trip with my-sister-law Gina and our 9 combined children. It was an adventure!
One of the highlights for the children was a unique workshop/museum in Albany, OR. It featured antique carousal art pieces.
The city is currently working on the creation of a large indoor carousal featuring horses, a variety of other animals and mystical creatures, all hand carved by volunteers.
The museum is open to the public with finished horses available for children to sit on.
It appears to be quite a lengthy process, sometimes years to complete each piece.
Artists create sketches and drawings.
Then the intricate and detailed work of carving begins.
Eventually the city will tear down the facility and create a new and improved public building housing the brand new carousal.

Uncle Greggie, Amy and Dad took Micah and Danielle out for target shooting. I'm not sure what to make of Uncle Greggie and Dad's choice of outing but the kids sure thought it was a blast.

He finally took off without Dad's help! Pretty brave little 3 year old!

Music Festivals and Concerts
In the month of March we had 4 choir concerts, a piano recital, music festival for piano, choir ensemble and two solo festivals. It was so busy every night, as it all fell under a week and a half. The kids all were pleased with their performances scoring superior on their individual marks and getting over the jitters and nerves associated with being in front of judges.
We were especially proud of James for singing in the solo festival at BSU and the Nampa center. (he definitely took after his father in that area)

Gideon is such a passionate little guy. Whenever he likes something he "Really" likes it. This month it has been hot dogs. Hot dogs requested for breakfast, lunch and dinner....everyday.
Hot dogs are my least favorite, so we struck a deal, fat free white meat turkey dogs. He can't get enough.
Our little guy is officially potty-trained. He started around Christmas and has been consistent for several months outside of naps and bedtime. This past couple of weeks he has stopped wearing diapers at naps and even takes himself to the potty by himself. Too bad he has a hard time getting his underwear back on. You can hear him through the whole house calling my name to come help him. We have done it, 7 children potty trained, never thought I would see the day!

We have had three birthdays in the last couple of months. Eliza is now 6, James is now 13 (whoa teenager status) and Danielle is 10 (double digits).
James chose to go see the Lightening Thief with family and friends. We were disappointed that the movie strayed so far from the book, as it was the kids first ever full priced movie and they all love the books. We picked up all the fixings for James' favorite meal...egg mcmuffins and came back home to celebrate.

We took Eliza to the dollar show to see the Princess and the Frog! She is so delightful right now. She is the first to offer to help and is happy all the time. Eliza made Danielle's cake and chose the candles!!
