We spent the Christmas Holidays with family. I was happy to host most of the Christmas meals, as we can seat 25 people in our two dining areas. Danielle was a great helper making name cards, cooking and watching little children. Micah was in charge of making miniature snowmen out of marshmallows and setting tables. Eliza is always wearing her apron just waiting for a chance to measure, stir or cook food. We spent time together playing games, racquetball and even had a night out as adults.For years, Scott's youngest siblings took turns watching nieces and nephews...now it is fun to pay it back with our built in babysitters. We had one night out as adults at Texas Roadhouse. The oldest cousins do a good job keeping the kids happy and the house standing.
If you were to ask the kids what they loved best, it would be running back and forth between Grandma's home and ours, in the dark, with cousins. It's funny, but I can remember walking between my Grandma Skidmore's condo and Aunt Meretta's all the time...so fun! Our children are especially close to the Cahoons kids and really revel in late nights, games and "hanging out"! They seem to be cut out of a similar mold. As mom's we dream of EFY, college roommates and even summer trips for those cute friends.
Scott had his little (big) brother Jeff and his cute wife Angela stay with us. Thomas got to have a sleep over every night with his cousin Caleb. Thomas said that was the best part. It was fun to see the unique sleeping positions each night as we crammed many bodies into the little boys bedroom. We always had a few legs, heads and arms hanging off the edge and a snugly doggie wedged in somewhere. Jeff and Ang will move to the midwest sometime this year.
It was a treat for them to spend a little time with us.
The Skidmore clan took the time to pay a visit Christmas afternoon. Levi made a special trip to our home bearing a divine home made cake. He was either feeling domestic or nesting for his wife Amber who was scheduled to have their baby boy any day. I am glad we live so close.
