Easter was a huge holiday for Scott growing up (the basket and chocolate bunny part), the Skidmore family was not so much into the egg hunts but we always spent time together. We have combined the two sets of roots and have made some of our own traditions. We started early with Easter music and stories. We had an activity to talk about symbolism of the Easter holiday and it's significance. We read from the scriptures and then let the children find their hidden treasures.
The Easter Bunny left a few favorites in every one's basket, clementines, juice, Pringles, socks and a little candy. We headed to 9 am church and saved a special egg hunt for later.
I had a couple of "special helpers" participate in advance in setting up our hunt. We ate a yummy low maintenance meal (less time in the kitchen more time together) and read more stories. (As a side note, Scott chose his lovely lumber Jack outfit especially for me! He was feeling a little rebellious because of a lost nap and thought he would dress in my favorite apparel. We both laughed.)
