Fall brought Fast Feet:
- Caldwell Indian Creek 5k
- North Junior Cross Country season
- Boise High Cross Country season
- Boise Torchlight 5k
- Zeitgeist Half Marathon
- Lifetime Turkey Day 5k
- Ghost of Seattle Marathon
- Malibu Spartan Sprint
Winning 1st place in the Caldwell 5k resulted in a new pair of shoes from Bandana Running Store for Mom...even if it was a very hot and ungraceful finish.
Isaac would race every weekend if he could. He showed up without any training and rocked it.
Aunt Gina running in to the finish in style!
Brian is 6 ft. 4 or 5 inches and about 300 lbs and broke 29 minutes for the 3 miles.
Gina and Brian have helped volunteer at the Indian Creek Festival for several years. Here are a few of their good friends involved and racing.
Not long after our picture our little Tweety Bird came running in with Grandma Stevens right behind. They had run the race together!
Stevens/Sorenson running champs...
Danielle joined the North Junior Cross Country team and ran her heart out. She juggled three day a week ballet and 5 day a week running practice.
This picture is of her running in Ann Morrison with a PR. She broke the 8 minute mile barrier and landed in the 7's. Woohoo Go Sissy!
Her choice of shoes always came from Mom's closet. Mom kept losing clothes and shoes mysteriously.
Here comes Micah racing in Eagle Island. Dad challenged any child to "beat" Mom's 5k time. Micah was not only chasing down the other runners in the race but the clock. He Pr'd every race and landed just above the 20 minute mark...barely.
Finish strong Micah Boy!
James made us laugh. Every race we didn't know if he was going to stop and smell the flowers while chasing down Micah or kill it at the end to keep up his big brother edge. He PR'd just a few seconds in front of Micah...20 minutes flat. Way to go.
Bob Firman Championships at Eagle Island Park.
Scotty (neighbor boy) and Gideon played together as we waited for all three races to finish.
Grandma Stevens always managed to show up armed with goodies. Grandad Skidmore still loves the races also...it is in the blood.
Despite that Danielle is sporting a new set of school colors nothing can break the bonds of friendship between these girls. McCall, Tess and Heidi.
Not to be outdone by the teenagers...Mom trumped the boys 5k with a 19:23 at the Boise Torchlight. We are not going to tell them the course was a little short, they are going to have to race for it. It was this particular race that encouraged me to add on a few miles and start a wing-it training session for a fall marathon.
The races for Mom continued with a 1:44:52 PR by over 8 minutes in the Zeitgeist. It was a tough climb of 1100 ft of elevation but felt OH so Good to come back down.
Thanksgiving calories should always be matched with a great run...here they come. Micah takes the lead home. He is such a graceful sprinter! (red beanie cap)
(He managed a 20:06)
Nephew Jackson Ryan a natural athlete in football and basketball busted out his fast race.
Who's set of chicken legs are those???? Go Scott run that PR! Yeah for dad running too.
Grandad Skidmore rocked a 22 minute 5k at 60 years old. All the kids except Tommy and Gideon ran this super cold but fun race. They loved the hot chocolate and pumpkin muffins. It was well worth the $10 dollars a child and half off adults.
Can you believe how tall those cousins are getting. It was too bad a few of them had fevers that day.
Our whole gang together. Mom enjoyed being the cheerleader and spectator. There is nothing better then having kids that love to be active.
This picture is too funny not to post!
Kimber and Nettie are so fun. We traveled to Malibu together to get muddy and experience the Spartan race. We didn't know quite what it was but it sounded like a memorable experience. Scott and I were not sure how we would pull it off after just being in Seattle the weekend before, but we pulled strings and are so glad.
Kimber stayed up all night making us tough pink shirts! She is so cool. Our faces were printed on athlete bodies. Everyone looked fierce. We were the Mighty Bad Momma's and Papa's! Oh yeah we were a pink force to reckon with. The race was 3.1 miles with 15 obstacles along the way including: barbwire, monkey bars, sandbags, javelin throwing, wall climbing, dodging Gladiators, deep waters and mud and heavy weighted lifts, rope walls, fire jumping and more.

One funny note: After the race Scott and I compared notes on the most difficult challenges. I said I was surprised how heavy the sand bags were and wondered how other girls could carry and heave them over wood walls without dropping. He thought it was a cakewalk. Cakewalk that is until pictures proved he had mistakenly carried the Girls Pink sandbags and I had carried the Men's Red bags. Huge difference in weight.
This has got to be the best picture ever...Kimber and Nettie stayed together the whole time and just had fun.
I knew Scott meant business when he left me in the dust after the second challenge.
So we had to include this disturbing image. Kimber said she followed Tarzan/Tuxedo sporting Narcissist Guy. She said it was too much when his Speedo got caught on barbwire and she got an unfortunate view. Let's just say he was not the only character that day and it was hilarious to see the Gladiators take him out with a vengeance.
(You know you have issues when your hubby has better legs then you and thinner thighs...not bad for almost a 40 year old)
This was really one of the most favorite races ever for all four of us and we cannot wait to try it again.
Scott and I signed up for the non-competitive heat but ended up placing out of the thousands there that day. Wow how did that happen? Part of it had to have been trying to get in front of Speedo Guy!
